MANAGED NOC

What is a NOC?

NOC is the abbreviation for Network Operations Center. In the NOC, all systems - security, power, environment control, connectivity, web services, computer performance, and hardware health are monitored 24x7 by living people. Multiple systems are used to ensure that all alerts are observed and addressed in a timely fashion.

Currently, we monitor mission-critical Wide-Area Networks in 6 different time zones. When it's tomorrow in Australia, we're here to make sure that customer has access today. Most of our clients have a global audience. We monitor the health of their systems and ensure that they have plenty of quality bandwidth to the major backbones of the Internet.

Who staffs the NOC?

Trained Digital West employees who are selected for their customer-service attitude, and background-checked. They are technically-minded individuals, but they must inherently care about helping customers in order to join our team! If they don't have an answer for you, they have access to more-senior staff 24x7. We are that customer-focused.

We always answer the phone, usually within a few rings, and you won't end up listening to an automated attendant or endless music "while your valuable call is on hold because someone else is being helped."

Where is the NOC, really? Don't you send it overseas after hours to save money?

Not a chance! Computers always seem to have problems when humans are trying to sleep. We have to be here, right in the data center, in case there is a problem. When one of our customers needs to work on their equipment, they have to be identified and verified visually before they are granted access.

That can't be done effectively by someone overseas who speaks English as a second language. We really are right here, in San Luis Obispo, California.

Call us and ask what the weather's like. You'll get the right answer.
